What is diving on Iriomote Island?
Iriomote Island has a rich mangrove forest and precise, high-quality coral reefs in the sea.
Therefore, Iriomote Island is one of Japan’s most popular diver’s meccas.
Divers wear regulators for breathing, masks for seeing underwater, fins for swimming in the water, and weight belts worn on the front of the body to balance the tank’s weight.
Of course, you do not have to prepare these tools yourself.
You can rent all the necessary equipment if you join a diving tour.
Diving is a popular activity because it lets you enjoy the ocean’s beauty casually!
Two types of diving tours you can enjoy on Iriomote Island.
Introductory Diving (Taiken-Diving)
To dive, you need to obtain a license.
However, Introductory Diving can be enjoyed by those who do not have a license or are new to Diving.
In Introductory Diving, you will receive a technical lecture before entering the sea.
Although there is a limit of 10m depth for Introductory Diving, you can fully enjoy the rich coral reefs in the sea of Iriomote Island.
It is also good that all equipment is free of charge (including the tour fee) in most Introductory Diving tours.
Scuba Diving (Fun-Diving)
Scuba Diving (Fun-Diving) is available for licensed divers.
In addition, it is often cheaper than Introductory Diving because lectures are not required, and equipment rental fees are not included in the tour price.
